Ione studied Architecture at the University of Manitoba and went on to study glass at Sheridan College, School of Design in Mississauga, Ontario.
She has operated her own studio in Manitoba since 1973, working primarily with off-hand blowing techniques and has been exploring cast glass techniques since 1983.
Her works are regularly shown at many Canadian venues as well as in the United Sates, Europe and Hong Kong. Her latest exhibition consisted of a retrospective as well as recent works in cast glass titled "Ossuary" at the Karsh-Masson Gallery in Ottawa (2007).
In 2007 Ione was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts
