Tanis was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to a mother who loved the arts. Her 17 years of ‘Throwing’ skills were learnt at the Stoneware Gallery with mentor Valerie Metcalfe.

Further knowledge was obtained by in-depth studies of glazes and firings. She has participated in raku firings, paperclay, watercolour and brush stroke workshops.

Tanis creates lead-free pottery that is functional and decorative with designs influenced by a love of nature.
